PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Gregory Poole is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant 1 to play a key role primarily focused on supporting the Company's 1) capital budgeting, 2) fixed asset capitalization and depreciation, and 3) property tax reporting. The position will also help maximize the Company's overall financial position by reducing overall indirect tax exposure and developing new processes and procedures that result in increased effectiveness and efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Capital Budgeting & Expenditure Management
• Maintain annual capital expenditure budgeting approval tracker to facilitate executive decision-making while also identifying & implementing areas for improving tracking process.
• Manage approved capital expenditure requests submitted by division managers which includes: 1) assigning project number to each request, 2) validating that the correct financial dimensions submitted by the requestor are accurate, and 3) confirming that budgeted amount includes supporting documentation.
• Monitor status of assigned project numbers in Project Management System.
• Reconcile work-in-process accounts for open capital expenditure projects that are not yet completed.

Fixed Assets
• Set up fixed assets in Fixed Asset Module once projects are complete.
• Process fixed asset depreciation each month.
• Periodic property ledger account review to remove fixed assets that are no longer in service.
• Reconcile property ledger account to general ledger balance each month.

Property Tax
• Compile fixed asset reports and other required data to be used in preparing property tax returns.
• Prepare & timely file property tax returns for 25 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
• Coordinate timely payment of annual property tax bills with Accounts Payable department and/or online filing/payment.
• Understand Company rental fleet and fixed assets reports and how data should be presented on returns.
• Reconcile property tax accrual accounts and allocate related expense over the year.

Other Functions
• Prepare Federal Excise Tax return and remit related payments.
• File rental tax and business license tax returns with local jurisdictions.
• Participate in process improvement and documentation projects which may include property tax and capital budgeting.
• Maintain dedicated tax calendars with due dates, registration numbers, filing frequencies, etc. to help ensure returns are timely filed.
• Assist with indirect tax notices and audits as requested.
• Assist with indirect tax registrations and business license requirements as required.
• Assist with capital projects approval and maintenance process as needed.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned by management.

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
Education and Work Experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, with 2 years of experience; or
• Associate degree in accounting or related field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience.

Physical
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to see (regularly or corrective) CRT and small print ledger information.

Other
Excellent presentation and communications skills; Detail-oriented and organized; Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines; Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technology
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Advanced Excel Required - proven ability of utilizing advanced formulas and functions (VLOOKUP, IF, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, etc.) to manipulate and summarize large amounts of data
• Basic understanding of ERP Systems
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and 365 a plus
