Sr Consultant, Data Analytics (Internal Audit) (Finance)
Responsibilities (Business Intelligence Reporting Specialist):
• Work with the business leaders and stakeholders to understand their strategies, how they align with the corporate strategies, and determine ways to use analytics to help them in decision making
• Work across business units to define and develop analytic capabilities that can be leveraged to solve cross business unit challenges
• Support the analytic needs of business units to help with prioritization to deliver the most valuable solutions
• Analyze and understand Northern Trust's core business processes and data flows to design and develop enduring solutions that provide analytical insights
• Develop and deliver solutions that leverage and extend existing Business Intelligence and analytics infrastructure
• Create metric governance within AS and propagate it into the enterprise where applicable
• Ensure all developed BI solutions are scalable, repeatable, supportive, and effective
• Assist with applying and developing statistical models/methods to address business issues using BI tools
• Develop metrics and create ad-hoc reporting as needed to support AS vision
• Assist internal customers with acceptance and adoption of implemented solutions
• Propagate and enable a self-service operating model to empower the AS staff in their analytical journey
• Create structured analytic solutions to solve business problems that are reusable and cross functional
• Develop complex queries against normalized and dimensional models to support business partners
• Identify efficiency opportunities in analytical datasets for more effective BI reporting and utilization
• Utilize problem-solving and analytic skills to rapidly create ad-hoc queries and visualization to answer complex business questions or identify data issues
• Work closely with customers and technology partners to analyze and document data, analytics, and visualization requirements for business analytics solutions

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistical Analysis, or equivalent required
• Strong knowledge of relational database concepts and structures, data integration techniques, ETL processes and SQL best practices.
• Experience using BI tools for insight creation and analytic support (e.g., Tableau, Prep, PowerBI, COGNOS, Microstrategy, Spotfire, Alteryx)
• Knowledge using other analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite, R, Python, Spark, H2O, Anaconda)
• 7+ years of relevant experience developing business intelligence, decision support solutions, or creating reporting visualizations
• 5+ years of experience with data analysis or data profiling
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Knowledge and understanding of data reporting workflows
• Highly developed mathematical skills required
• Strong financial acumen and ability to work across multiple business units
• Ability to foster a positive and collaborative environment
• Able to effectively adapt to highly dynamic and fast paced work environment
• Sense of ownership and urgency, with ability to work both independently and as part of team
• Highly organized and able to function with multiple targets in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
Preferred Competencies:
• Masters in Statistical analysis, or Business Administration
• Experience and knowledge in supporting or participating within an internal/external audit function
• Knowledge in a data quality and profiling tools a plus (e.g., Talend, SSIS, Paxata, Ataccama, Alation)
• Prior experience with statistical software or other data mining tools a plus (e.g., SPSS, SAS, ODM, Vertica)
• Expertise with relational databases, querying data warehouses, decision support or ETL tools a plus (e.g., Abintio, Informatica, DataStage, SSRS)
• 2+ years of experience in designing and coding ETL or architecting and implementing data models
