Principal Scientist, Chemistry (Information Technology)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary duties/responsibilities:
Independently plans, initiates, and executes synthetic organic chemistry experiments and interprets and communicates results as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories related to synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
Contributes to the strategy and direction of successful drug discovery programs.
Manages and directs the efforts of chemists at contract research organizations (CRO)
Presents findings internally and externally to cross-functional teams.
Participates in the development and writing of patent applications and identifies patentable inventions.
Abides by all safety and regulatory guidelines.
Maintains a detailed laboratory notebook.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
Track record of consistent and successful drug discovery accomplishments (e.g., patent inventorship, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications)
Deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal and chemistry concepts with high lab productivity
Experience with medicinal chemistry strategies to optimize the characteristics of molecules (e.g. potency, solubility, stability, absorption, etc.) to generate lead series and eventual clinical candidates
Strong communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment.
Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.
Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline preferably in Organic Chemistry with 8-10 years' relevant Pharmaceutical/ Biotech Industry experience
