Senior Electrical Engineer (Hybrid) (Architecture)

We are hiring! The Senior Electrical Engineer to be an integral part of our team. This position reports back to the Orlando office but candidates are able to work out of either Orlando, Tampa Bay, FL or Alexandria, VA.

How will you contribute to the team?
Performing Electrical load calculations and studies using SKM, Easy Power or other software package required by client. These studies include short circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash analysis.
Sizing and specifying equipment, as well as the design power distribution architecture and creation of single line diagrams.
Load and voltage drop calculations.
Lighting design, calculations and control scheme for normal and emergency lighting.
Lightning protection system layouts.
Creating grounding diagrams.
Design of low-voltage systems for buildings.
Coordinates the activities of other team members and assists in production as needed to meet schedules.
Review submittals, RFIs, and interact with authority having jurisdiction for assigned projects.
Need to function as a Project Engineer on specific projects of medium to large scope.
Supervise the tasks and methods used by other personnel assigned to the project.
Additional responsibilities include:
Designs and develops plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings.
Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work which have a well-defined scope. Outlines and prepares relatively straightforward reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.
Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experienced professional and evaluates the results from quality control testing.
Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
Contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications and writes miscellaneous reports.
Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.
Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
Coordinates with other disciplines as required.
Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
Mentor and train more junior staff.
Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
What will you contribute?
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineering license. NCEES record holder preferred.
Minimum 6 to 15 years of experience since Bachelor's degree with minimum of 4 years of design and production of electrical systems for large commercial, institutional and government buildings/facilities.
Specific electrical engineering design experience for large commercial facilities such as federal and local governmental facilities, aviation, leisure/hospitality and higher education is preferred.
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills is required integrated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Good verbal and technical communication skills.
Knowledge in the following software packages is preferred but not required: Revit, ElumTools or AGI32,
SKM Power Tools, Bluebeam required.
Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 101, NFPA 780, NFPA 72.
