Role description:
Arcadis is seeking to hire a GIS/GPS Field Technician to join our team in Georgia. Due to statewide travel, you may be located anywhere in the state of Georgia reporting administratively to our Atlanta office.
Role accountabilities:
Physically locate, input, update, inspect and maintain GIS databases, layers, tables and links within the geospatial relational database.
Perform mobile GIS/GPS location work in the field mapping stormwater systems and recording their relevant attributes using Trimble GPS mapping equipment and ESRIs ArcPad software to collect and manage digital data.
Work outdoors daily, maneuvering amongst biological hazards, rough\\uneven terrain, steep hillsides, creeks, remote areas, and heavily traveled roadways, commercial, secured, and residential properties. Must feel comfortable working alone.
use their ruggedized PC and MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, MS Outlook) skills to complete office tasks, and prepare technical reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
Requires Qualifications
• 1 or more year of general work experience in design and engineering
• Hold or be working toward relevant vocational qualification(s) (i.e., GIS certification)
Key Attributes
Be self-motivated, environmentally conscious, hardworking, organized, ambitious, detailed oriented, able to troubleshoot problems as they arise and Health and Safety conscious.
Field work is very labor intensive at times and requires critical data entry protocols to be followed and adhered by daily.
Be physically fit, nimble, enjoys working outdoors, can endure long days and physically capable of heavy lifting items such as storm sewer and manhole covers daily.
Ability to leverage 50 lbs.
Ability to maneuver amongst rough terrain, steep hillsides, creeks, busy roadways etc.
Work experience using GPS receivers, ArcPad on a Win7 OS
Ability to travel up to 100% of the time and work extended hours in the field.
Valid driver's license with clean MVR report
Preferred Qualifications
A college degree in Geography or related field is desirable but not required.
