Sensormatic Solutions, a division of Johnson Controls, is on a mission: we are revolutionizing the bricks-and-mortar retail world with innovative products that improve shopper experiences and retail outcomes! Our path forward includes active exploration of IoT, Computer Vision, Machine (Deep) Learning and other technologies. Our innovative solutions (Loss Prevention, ShopperTrak, and Inventory Intelligence) drive customer experience improvements and enable retailers to build streamlined shopping.

What you will do

  • We are working on some challenging problems that require inquisitive minds and grit to help us solve. We work in an agile environment. We have taken our analytic products ‘to the cloud' and are entering the arena of big data and the “internet of things" (IoT). This is a great opportunity that will allow you to:
  • Partner with product and development teams to understand the data needs for our products
  • Provide creative solutions to complex data problems through in-depth analysis and design
  • Build highly efficient data pipelines
  • Collaborate with your team to produce high quality code
  • Report progress, issues and status at daily and weekly stand-ups
  • Stay abreast of emerging database technologies and design standards

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree, computer science or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with relational, NoSQL, and distributed database systems (BigQuery, Spanner, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Strong SQL and Python development skills
  • Experience with data migration and ETLs
  • Collaborate effectively with database and application development teams
  • Strong ability to analyze data problems and formulate effective solutions
  • Take pride in writing clean dependable code
  • Agile software development methodology experience
  • Proven ability to work in a rapid release product environment

Preferred

  • Strong understanding of highly available and scalable databases
  • Experience with data architecture and data modeling
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop / Spark
  • Familiarity with big data and cloud computing
