IT FIELD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (Finance)



Job Description

The IT Field Support Technician provides support to Nabors businesses and the directions of the Nabors Corporate Services Information Technology (IT) Department in North Dakota and Eastern Montana. The position reports to the IT Field Services Manager. It requires frequent contact with other IT personnel, other Nabors departments, field personnel, and various Nabors corporate departments.

Qualifications

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-4 years Information Technology related studies or work experience
  • Knowledge of network systems support and troubleshooting
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Professional presence and demeanor
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to develop new ideas and work independently
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with internal and external clients

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Oilfield related rig operations or rig instrumentation experience
  • Two-way satellite internet systems experience Related military experience College degree Cisco certifications
  • Related project support experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position requires the ability to perform light physical work such as lifting and carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, squatting, kneeling and the use of a stepladder. Ability to travel by air or car to offices, field locations and/or supplier sites as needed and climb stairs to inspect equipment. Disaster Recovery: In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position is required to work in accordance with the Nabors Disaster Recovery Plan. During or immediately following an emergency, the employee will be notified to assist in the emergency response efforts, and mobilize other staff members if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support of regional offices for Nabors equipment including network devices, computers and peripherals, IP camera systems, mobile devices, and any Nabors owned technology at the direction of the Field Services Manager
  • Install, maintain, and support the technology on a Nabors drilling rig including but not limited to network devices, computers and peripherals, IP camera systems, mobile devices, and wireless field communications via satellite and mobile broadband systems
  • Install and terminate low voltage communications cables
  • Monitor the performance of the drilling rigs network hardware and wireless internet systems
  • Proactively report or address potential issues in offices and field operations
  • Assist with field testing of hardware and software applications
  • Track support requests in our ticketing system
  • Identify recurrent issues
  • Responsible for providing 24 hour on-call technical support to office and field locations
  • Responsible for inventory control of IT equipment
  • Position requires outdoor field work in challenging environments at times.
  • Position requires the ability to perform physical work such as lifting and carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs and the use of a stepladder.

  • Must have a valid drivers license In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position required to work in accordance with the Nabors Disaster Recovery Plan.
