General Manager (Engineering)



Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide overall leadership and direction to the plant in all areas of responsibility including administration, production, processing, packaging, quality, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, and environmental.  Establishes plant policies and procedures.  Responsible for achievement of plant goals and objectives. Establishes and maintains community relations. Selects and develops a plant staff capable of leading their individual areas of accountability to meet or exceed EPIC's strategic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plant level P& L responsibility.  Directs the overall manufacturing activities of the plant.  Initiates plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.  Assures attainment of business objectives and production schedules at the lowest cost, while ensuring product quality standards that exceed our customer's expectations.

  • Ensures compliance to government environmental requirements and ISO9001, ISO 13485 and manufacturing standards.
  • Through subordinate management, implements plant safety programs and continually improves the plant safety record by addressing physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.  Maintain and improve housekeeping
  • Establish and /or recommend and direct plant policies and procedures. Ensures that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP's) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business.
  • Demonstrate clear concise communications, up and down, to insure complete understanding of and actual performance to expectations.
  • Develops annual manufacturing expense budget in accordance with forecasted sales volumes and planned inventory levels. Responsible for preparation and alignment of plant production goals to corporate metrics and performance to the established budget.
  • Develops and manages plant capital budget.
  • Responsible for expense control, including shrinkage, labor and overhead costs utilizing continuous improvement techniques and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Acts as a liaison with Sales, Program Management and the Executive Team to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in helping to address customer inquiries, problems and concerns. Maintain a strong customer focus to meet customer needs, manage difficult or emotional customer situations and promptly resolve problems and avoid over commitments.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive corporate citizen image within the community through participation in key community groups and initiatives.
  • Responsible for the overall succession planning, selection and development of plant management staff.
  • Fosters a well-trained and motivated staff that demonstrates teamwork and embraces change management.
  • Is responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions and employee commendation within Corporate guidelines.
  • Responsible for establishing /changing all shift production schedules to optimize staffing while meeting production requirements.
  • Responsibly focuses on personal self-development, scheduled corporate training and meetings.
  • Demonstrates and communicates strategic thinking and vision casting expectations for facility growth and maturity.
  • Analyzes plant operations to insure that the facility maintains a leadership position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available. Encourages the use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
  • Other duties as assigned

      

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a technical area from an accredited four-year college or university plus a minimum of 7-10 years as a general manager / plant manager or comparable including P&L responsibility
  • Must have demonstrated experience in an electronics manufacturing
  • Masters in business or logistics is an added advantage.
