Snowmaker - SEAS - NE (Finance)
Arrives to work on time, dressed, and ready to go to work.
Ensures that snowguns are properly set and ready for start-up.
Ensures that proper operating procedures and company policies are followed.
Ensures that snowguns are operating correctly and producing quality snow and are checked in a timely
Shovels snow…Lots of snow.
Makes sure that hoses and guns are properly drained when shut down.
Lifts up to 50 pounds
Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Knowledge:
Basic understanding of the winter workplace and alpine environment
Possess a work background that includes outdoor activities
Possess a basic mechanical aptitude
Demonstrates the ability to do heavy, physical labor
Work Environment:
This position will require standing and walking in a high alpine, outdoor environment in winter conditions. It may be dark, snowing, very cold (below 0 degrees), windy. Snowmaking is a loud job with lots of big machines making lots of noise. Taos Ski Valley provides hearing protection and requires snowmakers to wear this at all times when around noisy equipment. Snowmakers work long shifts (12+ hours) 3 to 4 days a week. Snowmakers may get wet (very wet) in the scope of their job functions.
Physical Demands of Position Include:
Snowmaking is a physically demanding position requiring lifting and carrying weights up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Snowmakers will call for assistance and assist others when lifting items over 50 pounds at all times. While performing duties the employee will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.
Schedule:
The snowmakers' work schedule is alternating four shifts on and three off and three shifts on and four off. When working a 12-hour shift, this allows for 80 hours in a pay period. We expect all applicants to be able to maintain the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings. This schedule is subject to change based on the weather and the needs of TSV. Taos Ski Valley Inc. is an at-will employer.
