Senior Director, Global Compensation (Project Management)

Your Role:

This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the functional design and administration of Elanco's global compensation programs. This leader ensures compensation programs align with the business objectives and are effective in attracting, motivating, and retaining key talent, while remaining fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.

This is a highly strategic and collaborative role that works cross-functionally with leaders across the organization and partners closely with leaders in HR, Finance and Legal to understand talent and business needs and collectively develop and implement effective solutions. The role will need to be able to articulate the compensation strategy and philosophy to senior leadership.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Total Rewards the Sr Director leads a team of 7 compensation professionals in various locations globally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Monitor industry and general market practices, trends and legal requirements and lead the development and implementation of new initiatives to ensure compensation programs remain market-competitive, financially sound, and legally compliant.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of the Compensation team, driving accountability and desired results through effective coaching and performance management.
  • Partner with HR leadership to design and implement the future Compensation operating model, leveraging the Elanco Business Services team to drive administrative efficiencies.
  • Strategically assess the effectiveness of current compensation programs in achieving organizational objectives and give recommendations for modifications, evolving and improving the current global job architecture.
  • Lead annual compensation planning cycle in partnership with HRIS and HR Operations teams to include salary survey submissions and compensation budget planning.
  • Develop and coordinate communication strategies and activities designed to educate and inform employees about compensation.
  • Establish and identify opportunities for improvement of Compensation governance across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure excellent service and support. Identify vendors to solicit compensation program Requests for Proposal.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve operational effectiveness and enhance the employee experience.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field is required.
  • Required Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Compensation programs management with 5+ years in a leadership role, ideally in a large global organization.
  • Professional certification: Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred.
  • Financial acumen. A leader who understands short- and long-term financial impact of Total Rewards practices, and able to prepare and oversee the presentation of relevant financial data to a senior audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing large global Compensation architecture and solutions.
  • Experience in managing and developing remote teams.

  • Strong partnering and influencing skills, adept at collaborating with all levels inside an organization, including the highest executive levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience working collaboratively with multiple disparate stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable driving change and embracing innovation in face of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to distill complex information into key messages and clearly and simply communicate in a compelling way to front line employees and executives alike.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS.
  • Prior M&A related compensation integration experience.

  • Location: Elanco Global Headquarters- Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid environment)
  • Ability to flex working schedule to meet the needs of a global, matrixed business
  • Expected Travel: Up to 10%
