Role Description:

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact through your work? Arcadis is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our innovative Resilience Water team in the Midwest. This is more than just a job-it's an opportunity to help shape the future of water infrastructure in response to the growing challenges of climate change, rapid urbanization, and environmental sustainability.

At Arcadis, our mission is clear: to safeguard natural ecosystems, protect vital water resources, and build resilient, sustainable communities that stand the test of time. Join us in driving solutions that make a real difference-today and for generations to come.

Role Accountabilities:

As a Structural Engineer on our Resilience Water team, you'll be at the forefront of designing the next generation of sustainable infrastructure. From upgrading water and wastewater treatment facilities to developing shoreline protection systems and resilient stormwater and distribution networks, your work will directly contribute to building stronger, more adaptive communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead structural design efforts for a diverse range of infrastructure projects, tailoring solutions to meet site-specific conditions, regulatory requirements, and project goals.
  • Perform structural assessments and engineering analyses to inform innovative, data-driven project strategies.
  • Create high-quality technical deliverables including calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, bringing creativity and technical expertise to sustainable design solutions that align with industry codes and client expectations.
  • Support project execution, monitoring scope, schedule, and budget to help deliver successful outcomes.
  • Engage directly with clients and teams through site visits, design meetings, and project reviews-bringing your expertise into real-world application.

This is your opportunity to be part of a mission-driven team that's redefining resilience in water infrastructure. Join us in shaping a future where communities thrive in the face of change.

Key Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you should bring proficiency in structural design software, particularly STAAD Pro, along with practical experience using AutoCAD and Revit. A thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards-such as the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) guidelines-is essential. You will be expected to demonstrate your ability to prepare and review a wide range of engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules. Strong written and verbal communication skills are key, especially in the context of technical writing and documentation. You will thrive in this position if you excel in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and are passionate about sustainability and innovative design solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of structural engineering design experience, preferably supporting water/wastewater infrastructure projects

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • EIT certification or PE license strongly preferred
