Landman-Sequestration, Sr. (Finance)



JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose:

The Senior Landman is responsible for providing effective land management services in all aspects of subsurface and surface real property interests in support of Tallgrass's rapidly growing Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) business.JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in Petroleum Land Management or related field.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • A minimum of seven (7) years industry experience with five (5) years of in-house land experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of real property law, business law, title examination standards and procedures, agricultural and ranching practices, and general oil and gas activities.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas lease forms, pooling/unitization agreements, operating agreements, farmout agreements, and various negotiable contracts typically used in exploration activities.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience obtaining necessary regulatory orders and approvals related to drilling Class II, Class VI, or oil and gas wells.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal, and local governmental laws, and regulations relative to acquisition, maintenance, and management of real property interests.
  • Knowledge of land-related computer applications.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Project, and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Must possess and maintain valid authorization as a notary public for the state within which the job is located.

Working Conditions:
  • Overnight travel as required.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit reports for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Petroleum Land Management degree or JD preferred.
  • Certified Professional Landman (CPL) or Registered Professional Landman (RPL) through the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL).

COMPENSATION: $127,719- $145,000Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Participate in, develop, coordinate, and supervise the negotiation, acquisition, maintenance, administration, and disposition of real property rights and interests, including easements, leasehold, fee interests, licenses, and permits in support of CCUS projects.
  • Strategize and manage large lease acquisition projects in partnership with third-party brokers.
  • Negotiate trades, development agreements, operating agreements, and other contracts necessary to acquire, develop, and operate property rights.
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets in conjunction with commercial, project management, and subsurface teams.
  • Establish, cultivate, and manage relationships with landowners, regulatory agencies and industry partners and competitors.
  • Analyze and interpret title documents and secure appropriate curative.
  • Participate in and/or conduct public meetings and community outreach relative to land activity in support of CCUS projects or other activities, including but not limited to land use hearings, open houses, and stakeholder engagement meetings.
  • Keep current on and participate in the development of federal, state, and local regulations as needed.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
