Head of Cybersecurity (Finance)



Join a leading company in the Maritime Industry in a critical role on our IT team! Moran Towing Corporation ( www.morantug.com ) has an exciting opportunity available as Head of Cybersecurity in our Jacksonville office . This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief Information Officer.

Position Summary

The Head of Cybersecurity leads the design and execution of the enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy, governance, and operations. This role is responsible for protecting digital assets, managing cyber risk, and enabling secure innovation. Operating within a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) model, the Head of Cybersecurity retains strategic accountability for cybersecurity outcomes, ensuring high-quality delivery of 24/7 monitoring, incident response, and threat management through external partners. This leader will drive the organization's evolution from reactive incident handling to a Smart Zero Trust posture - embedding AI agents , behavior-based threat detection, and dynamic policy controls that adapt in real time to user, device, and data context.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

Cybersecurity Strategy & Program Oversight

  • Define and evolve a forward-looking cybersecurity roadmap in alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Champion a risk-based, AI-enabled Smart Zero Trust approach to cybersecurity operations and architecture.
  • Own cybersecurity KPIs, dashboards, and executive-level communications.

Governance, Policy, and Standards

  • Establish and maintain policies, standards, and security reference architectures.
  • Ensure alignment with standards such as NIST, ISO, CMMC, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Lead tabletop exercises and coordinate incident leadership when business or legal risk arises.

Third-Party & MSSP Oversight

  • Serve as the primary liaison and performance manager for MSSPs , ensuring SLAs, and reporting.
  • Oversee security tooling contracts and ensure integration of tools such as SIEM, SOAR, IAM, and DSPM.
  • Direct and evaluate the performance of the Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP).

AI and Automation Enablement

  • Integrate AI agents and copilots into threat detection, reporting, alert triage, and behavioral analytics.
  • Use DSPM tools to gain visibility into sensitive data access, over-permissioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Guide the organization's transition toward adaptive security using anomaly detection, contextual risk scoring, and conditional training.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with IT, Risk, Legal, and business applications teams to embed cybersecurity into workflows.
  • Facilitate Security Champion programs across IT teams.
  • Establish security playbooks and decision frameworks that can be enforced and automated.

Security Culture & Awareness

  • Lead phishing simulations, role-based security training, and security awareness campaigns.
  • Promote secure behaviors across the organization, particularly in how AI, data, and automation are used.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of progressive and holistic cybersecurity leadership experience, with proven success.
  • High level of familiarity and experience with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and CMMC.
  • Strong understanding of modern tooling: SIEM, SOAR, IAM, DLP, DSPM, and endpoint security.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI into security operations or workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and vendor management skills.

Pay Transparency

Moran Towing Corporation offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target pay range for the Head of Cybersecurity position is $150,000 -$175,000 per year. This pay range represents Moran's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate's exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
