Genetics Supervisor (Finance)
Efficiently and compliantly, propagate, cultivate, prune, transplant, irrigate, harvest, and process Cannabis plants by following LivWell Standard Operating Procedures
Operate environmental and irrigation control equipment.
Mixing and formulating fertilizer and other inputs.
Successfully identify and troubleshoot plant health and pest and pathogen issues.
Collect, compile, and format data relevant to the vetting of, and commercial production of Cannabis genetics.
Assist with genetic experimentation.
Assist the Genetics and Breeding Manager on other research, projects, and data entry.
Manage, create, and update genetic spreadsheets.
Interface with the Analytics team, and testing and compliance team for METRC plant tracking, and state mandated testing requirements.
Oversee the sampling and testing of new genetics.
Track new production genetics through the growth phases, consult production management on flowering times, and planting densities, and special gardening techniques.
Evaluation and ranking of new cultivars for production.
Assist with legally sourcing and acquiring/onboarding new genetics.
Phenotype new varieties of plants and take detailed observations.
Operate instruments and sensors for data collection.
Organize, maintain and clean the Cultivation space and the equipment within.
Supervision
Works under the direct supervision of the Genetics and Breeding Manager, and Manager of Production
Job Requirement
This position is expected to perform a variety of duties in a productive and efficient manner, consistently.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively on a team.
Self Sufficient and able to work independently.
Working Conditions
Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, and warehouse environment.
Working in typical agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms and/or protective layering.
Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Consistent, on-time attendance for all scheduled shifts, as well as an open availability when off-hours and weekend care for the plants is necessary. The health of the plants in the genetic vetting cultivation space is the primary responsibility of the Genetic supervisor, regardless of regular working hours.
Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
Job Qualifications
Work Experience
Minimum one year of work experience in commercial Cannabis cultivation required. (previous Cannabis cultivation management experience is preferred.)
5+ Years of Cannabis Cultivation experience preferred. (Private, hobbyist, caregiver, etc)
Previous experience growing cannabis indoors from seed a plus.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel and Word).
Possessing a basic understanding of plant genetics and principles of heredity are a plus.
Experience working in a fast-paced production environment preferred.
Demonstrates attention to detail.
A proficiency in METRC is a plus.
MDARD Commercial Pesticide Applicators License is a plus
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to secure appropriate work credentials from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Marijuana Regulatory Agency Enforcement Division.
Education

LivWell Enlightened Health is looking for a highly motivated, passionate individual to take on the role of Genetics Supervisor.
The Genetics Supervisor will report to the Genetics and Breeding Manager, and Manager of Production. This role is responsible for day-to-day operations of a commercial cultivation space used for cultivating new Cannabis varieties from seeds and clones to evaluate their performance potential for commercial production. Responsibilities will also include the continued evaluation and cataloging of genetics currently being produced for market, as well as other administrative tasks.
This position requires advanced knowledge of Cannabis cultivation techniques and garden management skills. Professional Cannabis cultivation experience is required, and management experience in a commercial cannabis cultivation operation is preferred. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial cultivation techniques, indoor gardening, and horticultural science. Strengths in organizational and observational skills, as well as the ability to properly collect and manage data is necessary for this role.
This position is a collaborative role that requires a teamwork driven approach. Including, effective communication with production managers, supervisors, R&D, and Analytics staff is essential. A high level of self-sufficiency and scheduling flexibility is required for this role.
