TranSystems is seeking to hire a Structural Engineer for Schaumburg or Chicago that has 1-5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge design, and must have an interest in learning and working on diverse project assignments, which may include highway bridges, freight and passenger rail structures, and miscellaneous structural assignments. A person whom is willing to travel to work in other offices is required. Knowledge of the model bridge engineering requirements (AASHTO LRFD and/or AREMA) is critical. Proven ability to work in a team environment and share of experience and expertise with teammates is ideal.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, working at exposed high elevations, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc.).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hand and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keyboard. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
