Technician - Asbestos (Finance)

Description

Position summary:

Asbestos Technician is responsible for performing the safe remediation of asbestos, mold, lead and or other hazardous waste while adhering to company policies and procedures regarding remediation while overseeing job set-up. Safely operates all necessary equipment for service line and completes appropriate paperwork in accordance with HydroChemPSC's policies, practices and procedures.

Essential duties :

  • Responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer, including hands-on information regarding operations, safety, equipment, emergency response and administrative functions.
  • Practices safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
  • Operates all necessary equipment in service line in accordance with operation training and guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Must have a current Asbestos Abatement (32 hour) Certification
  • Basic safety courses including site specific procedures
  • Technicians will be tasked with working with asbestos, and other hazardous waste removal while adhering to company policies and procedures regarding remediation.
  • The individual will also adhere to EPA, OSHA and local requirements regarding safety, hazardous materials handling, etc.
  • The individual may also participate in industry training, update certifications as needed for the Environmental industry.
  • Tool identification and usage training
  • PSC Safety/LPS Training
  • Local service offerings training
  • Any other required local training
  • Performs maintenance when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

  • Industrial setting, refinery, petrochemical, utilities, pulp and paper mills, etc.

Qualifications
Educational requirements:

  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent experience.

Skills and experience:
  • 2 - 5 years related experience
  • Must have a current Asbestos Abatement (32 hour) Certification
  • Must be able to pass an asbestos and lead medical clearance examination and medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator.
  • Ability to wear a respirator for long periods of time
  • Reading and writing in English
  • Ability to conform to work hours
  • May have to provide Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
