Director-Texas Intrastate Gas Supply (Finance)

Primary Purpose:
The Director of Gas Supply is responsible for leading the strategic planning, procurement, and management of natural gas supply to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant operations. This role oversees gas purchasing, cost of gas forecasting, and budget process, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and pipeline operators.
The ideal candidate for this role brings deep expertise in Texas pipeline systems, a strong grasp of market dynamics and direct experience with NAESB contracting standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of gas supply professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term gas supply strategies that optimize cost, reliability and flexibility across Texas intrastate markets.
  • Negotiate and manage NAESB contracts with suppliers and counterparties.
  • Monitor gas markets and pipeline operations to forecast demand, optimize supply and mitigate risks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, pipeline operators and key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions and develop models to support strategic planning and budgeting, including monthly, annual and long range planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal risk policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including operations, finance, scheduling, accounting, legal, gas control, project management and integrity compliance.

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Texas Intrastate natural gas supply/marketing experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience with a proven track record of coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas gas markets and pipeline systems.
  • Must possess direct experience with NAESB contracting standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret market data, forecast demand, and make informed commercial decisions.
  • Proven experience in origination and contract negotiation, with understanding of risk management and hedging strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills for securing favorable terms with suppliers and pipeline operators.
  • Proven capability to establish and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
