KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
•BSME, BSEE or a related engineering degree.
•Three plus years of experience on total vehicle or component design and testing
•Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
•5+ yrs. experience in the design and product release.
•Previous military product development including familiarity will military specifications and standards
•MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), MS Project, SharePoint, Teamcenter a plus.
•Individual must be highly organized with an acute attention to detail.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assists in establishing design parameters to achieve most cost-effective approach consistent with the end item of the customer's specifications, performance and reliability objectives, under general supervision. Ensures that product meets Federal, State, local, and military regulations for such items as safety and emission standards.
•Establishes design through calculations, analysis, and various design verification techniques. Approves releasing engineering designs at experimental, test or development phases of the program.
•Determines test requirement. Oversees or may assist in set-up and monitoring of the testing program. Analyzes and evaluates test results to determine acceptability or needed modifications in meeting customer specifications.
•Maintains contact with vendors and subcontractors to keep abreast of new materials, products, sources, pricing, and lead-time requirements. Solicits vendor knowledge and participation in product standardization and cost reduction.
•Provides information and direction to facilitate building of prototype components. Revises design package based on feedback from test activities.
•Provides engineering analysis of field problems and, as required, makes recommendations and implements corrective action.
•Preform other duties and special tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
• Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity so as to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner. This includes regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate.
• Hand-Eye Coordination: must be able to regularly coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks.
• Manual Dexterity: must be able to regularly make quick, accurate, skillful, and coordinated movement with hands and arms to grasp, place, move, or use objects such as phone, computer, and other office equipment, tools, or controls.
• Agility: must be able to regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks. This includes the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, Company's property surrounding facility, or additional work areas.
• Climbing / Kneeling: must be able to occasionally climb, kneel, bend over, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with balance.
• Lifting: must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
• Physical Strength: must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups.
• Stamina: must be able to occasionally exert oneself physically over long periods of time. This may include performing repetitive or strenuous tasks as well as standing and sitting for long periods.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and copy, fax and scanning machines. Employee must be able to perform job functions with appropriate intermittent relief where applicable under these conditions.
