Safe Harbor Marathon is seeking a dedicated and experienced marina professional to fill the Dockmaster position and oversee the daily dockage, storage, and fueling operations of the marina.  This role requires strong organization and leadership skills, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of marina operations.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the contract/reservation process and management of berthing, mooring, storage, and servicing of boats within the marina to maximize marina occupancy
  • Oversees marina fuel dock operations
  • Direct, move, assist, and coordinate with guests/members to ensure secure mooring of  vessels to/from docks
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting of slip, storage, and fueling activity
  • Manage daily operation of marina POS including opening/closing, reporting, ensuring accuracy of daily deposits 
  • Daily inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facility 
  • Provides the highest level of service to all members and guests, including expediting any and all requests from vessels
  • Manage, train, and supervise dock and fueling staff while leading by example
  • Safely operates Marina owned marine and land vehicles
  • Ability to multitask while also remaining professional in all situations 
  • First line of customer service for incoming boats
  • Responsible for daily operations of marina docks
  • Ensure safe fueling practices are being met
  • Manage renting of slips including transit activity and reservations to ensure accuracy and occupancy optimization
  • Ensures that Members and guests observe all marina rules and regulations
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2-5 years' marina experience 
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred
  • Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
