 About the Role:

At RDU Airport Authority, we rely on a dedicated ground crew to keep everything running smoothly—and that's where you come in. As a Maintenance Mechanic focusing on Carpentry, you'll be the hands-on expert building, repairing, and maintaining the structures and fixtures that keep our airport facilities ready for takeoff.

From installing and fixing flooring, walls, and ceilings, to crafting or repairing cabinetry and furniture, your work will help keep our terminals and support buildings in top form. You'll also tackle masonry and concrete projects, and lend a hand with weather-related operations like snow removal or hurricane prep—ensuring our airport stays fully operational around the clock. If you're someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys working on a variety of projects, and wants to keep the airport “cleared for departure” every day, this is the role for you. Join our team and help RDU soar! The position is on 3rd shift which is from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off).

Compensation:

  • Maximum – Based on experience
  • Minimum - $22.02

What You'll Do:

  • Install and repair carpet and vinyl flooring to include surface inspection and correction, wall base installation and repair, planning, and calculating size and fit allowing for expected traffic patterns, best appearance, and longest wear.
  • Use various tools and techniques to repair and restore masonry and concrete for various structures.
  • Interpret design and construction drawings to determine work requirements.
  • Assist in commercial seating unit repairs.
  • Clean up work area and inspect and maintain tools before and after projects.
  • Supports airport emergencies, special events, and irregular operations to include extreme weather events.
  • Performs additional related work as required.

 QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or Apprentice Program

 Experience:

Required:

  • 2 or more years of experience in general maintenance work and/or carpentry

Preferred:

  • 4 or more years of experience in general maintenance work, and/or carpentry

 Licenses or Certifications:

Required:

  • Valid NC Driver's License

Preferred

  • NC Registered Journeyman's Certificate
  • CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
