~ Responsible for the education and development of Dealership Technicians in the operation and proper repair of Hyundai vehicles based on the most current information available, in their associated area of the country. Manages their designated training facilities, including the management of training vehicle inventory, Special Service Tool inventory, standard repair tool and equipment inventory, and schedule of classes.
Manage Technical Training for the Eastern and Mid-Atlantic Regions
~ Administer and facilitate Hyundai and Genesis technical training classes to dealership technicians. This includes live training at a facility, online, and onsite as needed.
~ In coordination with the local Regions, develop and maintain a technical training schedule at least 60 days in advance that meets or exceeds training objectives.
~ Responsible for being a resource as the local technical expert. This includes answering region and dealer questions. Assisting with keeping training curriculum up to date as new vehicles, systems, and repair procedures are launched.
~ Locate and maintain a network of remote training facilities to meet regional needs, as needed. Maintain contractual agreements in accordance with HMA policy.
~ Maintain records of technicians trained using HMA systems to supply accurate training performance numbers to Dealers, Technicians and Regional management.
Manage Local Technician Development
~ Manage technician development and recognition programs in coordination with the local Region and dealerships. This includes the technician mentorship program, vehicle donation program, technical skills competitions, and any new programs that may be developed in the future.
~ Assist with technician recruiting activities as needed. Partner with the local Region, dealerships, local training schools, and national recruiter to help develop a pipeline of entry-level technicians to the Hyundai brand.
~ Manage inventory of handouts for DPSMs to welcome new technicians.
~ Collaborate with the World Skills Olympics technicians to make sure our dealers training needs are being met
Manage Technical Training Centers
~Maintain the designated Training Center(s), including shop equipment, tools, and learning resource PC Center.
~ Manage the annual budget to maintain the training center and equipment as needed.
~ Maintain and manage the designated training vehicle fleet. Coordinate the disposal of training vehicles as required by HMA policy.
~ Effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff.
~ Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff's time, materials and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
~ The effectiveness for self and team in training technicians is measured by training satisfaction surveys.
~ Responsible for achieving or exceeding annual training objectives. This includes dealership training levels, CSI results, IQS results, and VDS results.
~ Perform other assigned duties (Duties that are ancillary to this position and/or complement the essential duties) as required.
~ Collaborate with local Field Service Engineers, Tech Line, Systems Engineers, and Warranty teams as needed to improve dealer services and technician knowledge.
~ Up to 25% travel will be required to visit other training centers, dealers, and national headquarters as needed.
~ As a key resource manager, this individual is responsible for the hiring and development of training center instructors to support the technical training needs. This also includes the day to day administrative duties of a manager such as expense report review and approval, performance evaluation, and coaching/mentoring of the instructor staff.
~ Work with all customer service and field department managers to ensure coordination and integration of HMA training
~ This individual also has key duties relating to the maintenance of the training center facility and related budget. This includes management and protection of all HMA assets: maintenance of vehicles; equipment; supplies; identification of local resources to support the training activity, and coordinating building maintenance with the appropriate National department as necessary.
~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor's degree preferred
~ Master's degree a plus
~ Eight to twelve years of experience, with at least five years of directly related experience in automotive technical operations.
~ Three to five years of supervisory experience desired

~ Excellent knowledge of complex automotive systems.
~ Shop management.
~ Duties associated with normal office duties as well as, management of automotive repair shop, including light lifting (less than 50 lbs), tool & equipment movement.
