Pay: $70,300-$86,000, depedning on experince.

Position Summary

The Asphalt Foreman will be responsible for the daily oversight of the asphalt crew to accomplish daily tasks as directed from the Superintendent. Direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of daily asphalt paving plans ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily asphalt paving operations, at the direction of the superintendent to achieve safe, efficient, high-quality production.
  • Provide direct supervision to equipment operators and laborers and oversee the daily production of the asphalt paving crew.
  • Supervise, coordinate, train, and coach assigned personnel in the completion of jobs and daily work duties
  • Record employee time, material quantities, and detailed notes for daily submission of field logs.
  • Coordinate with Superintendent the planning and scheduling of labor, equipment and trucking to maximum efficiency.
  • Communicate regularly with superintendents, inspectors, agency representatives, project managers, estimators, quality control, and customer service to schedule work and perform within established deadlines.
  • Coordinate with plants on daily production requirements.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare the crew to perform work.
  • Notify the asphalt superintendent on changing jobsite conditions and coordinate how to proceed.
  • Ensure employees operate and maintain equipment properly.
  • Notify the superintendent and/or shop of equipment mechanical issues.
  • Promote individual and team accountability for safety, production, quality, and service, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform the duties of an asphalt paving equipment operator and/or laborer when necessary.
  • Must be willing to be available during non-business hours to handle last-minute scheduling changes etc. (i.e. nights and weekends)
  • Must be willing to travel when required.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as mandated by CRH, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure the project meets or exceeds the QC/QA goals.

Qualification Requirements

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

  • Must be proficient in operating screed in street and highway applications including skis.
  • Must have working knowledge of rolling patterns and density requirements.

Education \Experience

  • 5+ years asphalt paving experience required, Foreman experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills required to calculate production requirements and goals, time sheets, and other production reports deemed necessary in the normal course of business

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • iPad/Computer knowledge required for email communication and time entry.
  • Proficiency of MS Excel and Word applications preferred.
  • Ability to analyze issues independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • May occasionally lift move/carry up to 50 lbs. and occasionally use exertion forces of pushing/pulling of up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects for extended periods of time.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Majority of work will be performed outside in conditions that may be extreme in temperature and condition.
