Job Summary
The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for pre-registering patients into the health information system by obtaining appropriate information from Emergency Medical Services to process complete demographic and other visit related information. Responsibilities include accurate identification of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, interacting with patients, members of hospital departments, providers, and other team members. The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator is also responsible for providing excellent customer service by demonstrating behaviors that align with the organization's core values and The Augusta Way.
