Senior Engineser (Project Management)



Caldwell Tanks is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team. You will handle the analysis and design of elevated water storage tanks and flat-bottom steel tank structures for water storage in accordance with AWWA D100; flat-bottom steel tank structures for storage of industrial liquid products in accordance with API 650, API 620, and API 625; pressure vessels in accordance with ASME; supporting accessories for all structures listed above, including foundations. In conjunction with the Project Engineer and Designer, this person will review drawing packages as a reflection of design information, interpret and satisfy all project requirements identified in the Project Plans and Specifications as provided by the Client, maintain compliance with all applicable building codes and design standards, train and lead Project Engineers, and establish standard technical practices and procedures.

  • Serve as a technical representative to other internal departments for projects from contract signing through completion of punchlist
  • Serve as a technical representative to the owner's representative for projects from contract signing through completion of the punchlist
  • Serve as a technical representative to sales for preliminary tank and foundation designs and drawings
  • Review contract plans, specifications and related documents
  • Perform analysis and design of tanks and related foundations
  • Serve as EOR on projects
  • Manage non-production projects
    • Construction equipment designs and drawings
    • In-house software updates
    • FEA
    • Drawing automation
  • Mentor Project Engineers, Staff Engineers & interns
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

  • PE/SE license
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of industry-related codes and standards (AWWA D100, AWWA D107, ACI 318, API 650, API 620, ASME)

Non-Essential Requirements

  • Chair or Voting member on ACI, AWWA, API, ASME, or ASCE committee
  • Published papers on steel tanks and/or respective foundations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the design of plate structures and concrete foundation design, plus a minimum of 3 years experience in structural steel design
  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Must have a PE or SE License and a deep understanding of elevated and flatbottom steel tank and respective foundation design and construction

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Current driver's license with clear motor vehicle record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical plans and specifications. technical procedures, design standards or governmental regulations.  Ability to write, business correspondence, and prepare construction drawings.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and contractors.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, MathCAD, and any commercially available FEA program. Preferred proficiencies would include ability to develop programming code using Visual Basic, C# and C++ programming languages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
