Turbomachinery Controls Engineer (Finance)



This position holds complete responsibility for the successful execution of assigned projects, ensuring that both customer needs and Honeywell's financial objectives are met. You will manage project schedules and resources, overseeing projects that are mid- to high-range in technical and commercial complexity, as well as revenue.As a Turbomachinery Controls Engineer Engineer here at Honeywell, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in the design and development of complex engineering projects, acting as the subject matter expert and driving technical excellence. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.YOU MUST HAVE
  • University Degree in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing projects related to PLCs, DCS, Unit controls (Rotating Equipment), Plant, and compressor controls.
  • Prior leadership or managerial experience preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or professional engineering license preferred.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the project engineering team to successful project completion by being the technical and commercial solution leader, supporting sales and project efforts, and forecasting goals and project profitability with the Regional Leadership Team.
  • Supervise employees, including ongoing performance management and employee development. Monitor workload, provide upper-level project management support, and negotiate with the Engineering Manager regarding resources needed to complete the project within constraints.
  • Schedule and manage internal meetings with the project team throughout the active life of the project. Define the initial project schedule, obtain updates on execution, discuss customer change requests, and ensure any FAT punch list items are corrected and complete.
  • Act as the focal communication point with customers: address customer concerns, set expectations regarding schedule, contractual issues, and scope of supply. This may involve travel to customer offices or sites for meetings and managing testing activities.
  • Discuss and settle customer change requests, finalizing change orders as appropriate.
  • Manage the supply of external goods and/or services, finding cost-effective solutions compatible with project technical requirements and schedules. Collaborate with the purchasing department to manage suppliers.
  • Track and report project status, including customer expectations, hours charged by the team, material costs, actual project costs versus budget, and monitor receivables and deliverables.
  • Upon project completion, analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, utilization, and customer satisfaction.
  • Capture lessons learned and evaluate the performance of project team members at the end of the project or more frequently if appropriate.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
