School Intramural Coach - District 2 (Finance)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and attentive School Intramural Coach to lead, support, and motivate participants. The School Intramural Coach will work in local elementary schools running sports programs. This position will be accountable for maintaining a safe and orderly environment in the facility being used during sports programs. You will have the responsibility of enforcing all of the rules of the sport and those established by the YMCA. Provide quality coaching and officiating to the program and instruction to participants. This individual is accountable for maintaining a safe and orderly environment in the facility being used during sports practices and also able to handle relationships with school administration, players and parent questions and concerns in a professional manner.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The School intramural Coach will give leadership, direction, and supervision to participants in Sports Programs. You will create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.
SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
Monday - Friday 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
SCHOOL INTRAMURAL COACH/SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 18 years of age.
Must possess knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports and a willingness to learn other sport fundamentals as necessary.
Knowledge and ability to plan practices and officiate games
Exhibit a professional attitude at all times, which includes wearing appropriate staff uniform.
Previous experience working with kids is preferred
Must demonstrate qualities of a leader and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly to an emergency
SCHOOL INTRAMURAL COACH/SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain control in facilitates being used at all times.
Ensure quality performance of all sports staff.
Support and follow YMCA policies and decisions and answer member questions about the YMCA and its programs.
Plan and coach practice and lead activities for school aged children
Develop and maintain communication with teachers, players and parents.
Enforce all rules for the specific sport, as well as all YMCA rules and philosophies.
Keep current on all schedule changes.
Maintain regular communication with the Sports Director and school administration.
Set-up and take down equipment.
Complete score sheets and turn them into the Sports Director as required.
Referee all sporting events according to the rules set forth.
Attend staff training and meetings as required.
