Community Development Specialist (Marketing)

The Community Development Specialist will support the implementation of innovative and engaging consumer experiences that advance the mission of Independence Blue Cross.  The work will be critical for the smooth operation of the experiential and educational events and community outreach for the Government Markets Marketing department (Medicare and CHIP segments). 

The Specialist will support strategies of engagement for the consumer audience (prospects, members and general community) and is responsible to execute marketing campaigns that successfully engage the target audience pre and post event in both digital and traditional media channels. 

This individual will implement and deliver innovative programs and presentations that educate members and will be responsible for the project management and maintenance of status reports including campaign-level reporting and tracking of key performance indicators. 

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support innovative engagement strategies within the health and wellness experience and education space for year-round strategic engagement.  This includes the project management and coordination of the plans and activities related to priorities
  • Support the development of creative marketing campaigns designed to engage both consumers and key stakeholders within the community with the relevant programming
  • Maintain a community outreach presence that includes both educational and experiential learning opportunities to build a network of consumer advocates. 
  • Interact with community stakeholders to enhance the relationship with the brand and serve as a conduit for partnership opportunities. 
  • Serve as advocate and educator in guiding members through the use of their health care plan
  • Implement and deliver innovative programs and presentations that educate members on their health care benefits and how to optimize their health care dollar
  • Track team engagement metrics including but not limited to event metrics, community involvement activities and referrals for both consumers and members.
  • Manage ongoing project management and status reports to assist with the adherence to timetables and associated campaign budgets
  • Gain thorough understanding of compliance including the impact of state and federal oversight on marketing campaign tactics and messaging.  
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.  Degree in Marketing, Social/Human Sciences, Public Relations, or a related discipline preferred

  • Minimum three years' experience in social impact design, corporate community relations, project management, community organizing, volunteer management or other related areas.

  • Positive, persuasive and compassionate personality; exquisite communication (verbal/written) and people skills

  • Ability to handle multiple issues and projects in a matrix team approach, requiring significant consultation and collaboration with colleagues.

  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines; well-organized with a customer-oriented approach

  • Demonstrated project management and analytical skills

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, marketing computer software and online applications

  • Ability to adjust schedule as some night and weekend hours may be required

  • Must have active driver's license and access to reliable vehicle.

  • Familiarity of Philadelphia and surrounding areas business, and community service environment (e.g., community service leaders, non-profit organizations, critical city-wide community service needs, business leaders.) is a plus.

  • Medicare and/or CHIP insurance familiarity a plus but not required

  • Independence has implemented a “Hybrid of Choice” model which provides our associates with the flexibility to choose whether to work remotely, work in the office every day, or work in the office on certain days at their discretion. However, management may require our associates to work from Independence's physical office locations on certain occasions. This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid of Choice” model. While associates may work remotely, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
