840012 Clinical Health Psychologist (R&D)

We are seeking a Health Psychologist to:

  • Provide outpatient clinical services to children and adolescents struggling with chronic pain conditions focused on addressing the psychological impact of medical diagnosis, coping with pain, improving quality of life, increasing adherence to prescribed medical treatments, and lessening the impact of an illness on a patient and family's well-being.
  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary pediatric pain clinic with a medical team several times per week.
  • See patients and their families individually for follow-up.
  • Provide consultation and care coordination.

Education: 
Minimum

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or related field.

Work Experience:
Minimum

  • One (1) year of post-doc experience in the area of Pediatric Health Psychology or Behavioral Health in an integrated health care environment.
  • Preferred –Additional combination of education and experience in the area of Pediatric Pain Management and Palliative Care.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum

  • Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in Wisconsin.
  • CPR/BLS.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Eligible for listing in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide post-doctoral graduate and undergraduate training, including formal lectures and seminars, to Psychology interns, medical students, and residents.
  • Ability to effectively supervise the work of Psychology interns, medical students, and residents.
  • Ability to provide clinical service to a wide range of ages and to persons having any number of health-related issues, including chronic illness, traumatic injury, physical disability, mental illness, and facing end-of-life decision making.
  • Ability to identify emotional, behavioral and psychosocial needs and strengths and integrate into care plan.
  • Ability to participate in program development and outcome evaluation efforts.
  • Ability to provide Health Psychology consultation for health care professionals, family members and patients.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment and to collaborate with professionals across a variety of disciplines.
  • Ability to consistently maintain and convey a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills in service delivery.
  • Flexibility in responding to day-to-day clinical service demands and provider staffing coverage needs within the Health Psychology service.

Physical Requirements:

Light:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. No weekends or holidays are required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.This position may be remote for individuals living in Wisconsin or Illinois.
