Program Manager, Recreation Operations and Membership Services (Finance)

Description:

The Program Manager, Recreation Operations and Membership Services is a key member of the Campus Recreation leadership team, responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and customer service experience within the department's recreation facilities. This position also oversees all aspects of member services business functions, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants and provides direct supervision to a team of student staff to assist with facility supervision, risk management, and membership sales. The Program Manager plays an active role in supporting departmental goals.

Duties:
  • Supervises and mentors a team of student staff to support facility functions and member sales. Ensures proper training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Supervises routine inspections of facilities and equipment, coordinates necessary repairs or maintenance, and manages equipment inventory and supplies to support Informal Recreation.
  • Implements strategies to improve member satisfaction, engagement and retention while ensuring compliance with university policies related to access control.
  • Leads departmental efforts for student staff training and risk management ensuring compliance of required training following local, state and industry standards.
  • Provides support during peak hours, special events, or emergency situations, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maintains accurate records related to facility usage, incident reports, membership data, and other relevant documents.
  • Manages the membership database, auditing sales and customer accounts as needed. Ensures all membership types, products and services are entered properly for sales.
  • Maintains fiscal accountability for all part-time labor expenses. Provides budget projections and recommendations annually.
  • Develops a collaborative relationship with departmental and divisional staff, working early morning, evening or weekend hours as required or needed and performs related duties as assigned.

Required Duties:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Higher Education or related field.
  2. Minimum three years of experience in recreation programs including operations, personnel supervision, or student development.
  3. CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification with American Red Cross (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Higher Education or related field.
  • Minimum three years experience in collegiate recreation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn university policies and procedures, and specific software
  • Knowledge of various computer software needed to perform duties (Microsoft Office Suite, Innosoft Fusion)
  • Knowledge of assessment methods in Higher Education.
  • Basic accounting and sound fiscal management skills.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Skills and the ability to develop emergency action plans for a recreation setting.
  • Ability to build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others to coach, mentor, instruct, etc.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and accurately verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
