Director of Human Resources (Finance)
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred.
Eight to ten years' progressive leadership experience in Human Resources/Organizational Development.
Previous experience working in hospital or healthcare compliance, preferred.
Knowledge of organizational development, employment law, compensation, benefits, safety, employee relations, preventive labor relations, EEO/ADA/FMLA state and federal wage and hour and employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficient at performing supervisory duties including hiring, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, and terminations.
Ability to serve as part of the Executive Management Team that provides company leadership and direction. Committed to positively interacting with Community Management Teams and Regional Support Staff on a regular basis.
Requires standard computer skills and experience in relevant software applications. Kronos experience, preferred.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and politely (in English), both verbally and in writing.
Ability to make formal presentations on a variety of work-related topics on a regular basis to small and large groups.
Able to manage a large volume of material, work under time and confidentiality constraints, and meet department deadlines.
Ability to travel, often on short notice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment, Talent Management, and On-Boarding
Develop and recommend recruitment practices that assist in the growth of the organization, and act as a resource for the Recruiters.
Support and monitor Sunshine's recruiting pipeline for the Community Management Teams, Regional Support, and Community Support Office which includes facilitation of placing ads and maintaining a list of ideal candidates.
Develop and maintain standard job posting templates and job descriptions in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
Collaborate with the operations team to continually assess and support a strong on-boarding process that will help with employee retention.
Benefits and Compensation
Partner with the VP of Finance in identifying and developing the annual benefits package with the goal of balancing cost and strategic goals. This includes continually evaluating Health/Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, and other supplemental programs to be the premier employer while remaining fiscally responsible.
Present options to CEO for input and approval annually or as needed. Understanding of the financial impact of these plans will be necessary for this position to provide recommendations for future changes to the plan.
Coordinate, educate, and rollout the benefit plans to the company each year.
Support and direct the HR and community teams to ensure compliance with annual reports, enrollments, and deadlines.
Work in tandem with the VP of Finance and Strategy to develop, implement, and assess pay bands for all community positions.
Employee Services and Administration
Assess, develop, and implement employee materials such as the employee handbook, performance documentation, training documentation, and other informational materials to ensure the success of the SRL team. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulation.
Collaborate with executive team to manage on-boarding or opening new communities.
Prepare budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources. Prepare and submit monthly P-card receipts accurately and on-time.
Lead and act as a resources for a cohesive, collaborative, and effective Human Resources team.
Perform other duties as assigned by CEO or VP of Finance.
Compliance and Reporting
Monitor and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local municipalities. This includes but is not limited to: EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, the Department of Labor, I-9's, Form 5500, etc. Act as a resource for the HR and community teams and direct processes and policies to ensure compliance.
Work closely with the Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Regional Health & Wellness Director, and VP of Finance to develop, implement, and continually assess a QAPI program. Regularly meet and assess compliance with regulations.
Safety and Workers' Compensation
Develop, monitor, and ensure that safety meetings are being implemented and records are maintained. Report and educate on the importance of safety.
Review Workers' Compensation claims, attend hearings, and work with employees and Sunshine's Workers' Compensation carrier to minimize exposure and costs.
Monitor the tracking of OSHA-required data and oversee the implementation of safety training programs.
Work directly with the carriers for annual July 1 renewal.
Work closely with the Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Regional Health & Wellness Director, and Regional Maintenance Directors to develop and implement company-wide safety meetings and initiatives.
Employee Relations
Promote good employee relations practices, which will result in a positive employer-employee relation, high employee morale and motivation.
Confidentially counsel Regional Support Staff, Management Team Members, supervisors, and individual employees to assist in resolving work-related issues.
Act as a resource to HR Business Partners, Regional Support Staff, and Management Team in investigating and addressing work-related issues.
Keep the Executive Team informed of problems that may jeopardize Company goals and those that are not being addressed adequately at the front-line management level.
Serve as case manager for all employee claims and lawsuits, including coordination of representing counsel. Serve as liaison between Sunshine and outside sources re: employee grievances. Attend hearings, act as witness or person-most knowledgeable, and honestly represent Sunshine in a professional and positive manner.
Oversee investigations of employee complaints and provide direction and support as needed.
Organizational and Employee Development
Develop and provide training and support to Regional Support Staff and Management Teams in dealing consistently and constructively with employees issues such as recruitment, on-boarding, compensation, disciplinary actions, employee development, employee recognition, and creating/maintaining positive company culture.
Develop and maintain training guides, as necessary.
Work in tandem with executive team in assessing and supporting change initiatives around culture/collaboration, recruitment/on-boarding, employee services/benefits, learning/training, compliance/reporting, workers' compensation/safety, and employee relations
Develop, implement, and assess cross-training and development programs to ensure an adequately trained, motivated, and stable workforce that meets the current and future needs of Sunshine while upholding the Company vision and strategic goals.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all work assigned for the agreed-upon salary, accepting no additional payment or non-perishable gifts from residents, vendors, Community Management, or others.
