Controls Engineer (on-site) (Information Technology)

As the Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the tracking, maintenance, and support of all products, including WCS software and hardware requirements. As a leader, you will also partner with the WM Manager to support continuous improvement efforts, leveraging the new controls with the WM platform. You will manage projects regarding equipment updates, including conveyer, photo eyes, scanners, print and apply, etc. you will own WCS process, updates, and vendor relationship. You will work with the operational partners to fully optimize the operation.

  • Assists in troubleshooting and maintaining a high level of equipment uptime.
  • Trains maintenance trainers and personnel on systems and troubleshooting.
  • Provides input on strategic roadmap for equipment being used.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order
  • Work with vendors and VARS to keep up with new technology
  • Works with equipment Integrators to ensure equipment is maintained properly and periodic maintenance is performed
  • Support an on-call team to ensure that equipment is available when needed by the business. Work with Integrators to have a service plan in place.
  • Support Minisoft and Mark Magic changes as necessary to produce correct output. Work with the WMS support manager to identify document and form changes.
  • Understand Operations processes and identify and implement changes that will reduce costs, time to market.
  • Act as liaison with IT Technical staff to support daily Operations activities as well as project management.
  • Prioritize project list and provide weekly status updates.
  • RF gun checkout and Management. Ensure all equipment is in working order when checked out. Responsible for notifying the Technology Support Team when equipment needs repaired.
  • Work with equipment vendors (and IT as necessary) to order products and materials such as RF gun straps, headsets, etc.

Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience including a minimum of 3-5 years in Supply Chain.
  • Retail Environment, Order Management, Software Systems Support & Warehouse Management experience
  • PLC Experience in an automated high-volume environment is required.
  • Must work well with cross functional teams, i.e., maintenance, IT teams.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and communicate with vendors on troubleshooting calls.
  • Works well under pressure
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor staff
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills, be able to document processes and train support staff and maintenance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Use of query and analytical tools
