Account Supervisor, Earned Media (Finance)



Edelman is looking for an Account Supervisor, Earned Strategy to join our Consumer/Brand Team supporting a large food & refreshments portfolio. The ideal candidate has strong media relations and storytelling skills, is detailed oriented, collaborative, a problem solver at heart, and is well versed in digital/social media. Experience with CPG and food accounts, as well as experience in a newsroom, are a plus. The ideal candidate will support day-to-day account operations, specifically implementing earned media relations on behalf of client announcements and future news. They will utilize Edelman's overall resources to help build the most strategic and creative approach to earned media programs. The candidate will have sound judgment, be detail oriented, a persuasive writer, ability to be client-facing, proven problem-resolution skills, and will consistently demonstrate professionalism and ethical business behaviors. They will be constantly curious regarding the modern media landscape and industry trends and have reporter knowledge within area of Edelman client businesses, especially men's and women's lifestyle, entertainment, food and beverage and have a working knowledge of the interplay between earned and social, as well as owned and paid.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the public relations industry and its basic principles
    • Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
    • Provide client service administration, including preparing client status and activity reports, attending meetings and conference calls, compiling media and competitor coverage, coordinating press tour pitching, scheduling and logistics
    • Research, outline, write, edit and proofread materials, including press materials, scripts, newsletter articles and awards
    • Assist with research, including analysis of media coverage and online conversations
    • Demonstrate a general knowledge of social media tools
    • Build a network of media and industry influencer contacts
    • Proactively develop and offer fresh story angles to internal account teams and clients
    • Manage projects using organizational skills, working with colleagues, vendors and support agencies and keeping project leaders apprised of status
    • Help supervise interns/trainees
    • Participate in the new business process, including research, audits, preparation of proposals and support for new business pitches

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • The account supervisor must have at least 4 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing, and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • They will have an intricate level of understanding of the account(s), the clients' businesses, products, markets, personnel, outside influencers, opposition, etc.
    • They will have a solid grasp of all basic public relations tools and how they are used to achieve client goals.
    • They also will have solid research, writing and editing skills and the ability to develop media and influencer contacts/relationships.
    • They are expected to have a fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments and apply experience and initiative in developing appropriate traditional and online media strategies.
    • They must be a proactive self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines.
    • They have an affinity for storytelling, and can generate creative ideas, take risks and think big.
