Director of the PsyD Program (Construction)



The Director of the Doctor of Psychology Program position initially gives oversight to the development of the new Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program. Following the proposal and approval of the PsyD program, the Director continues to give oversight to the program in recruitment efforts, building a team, and the development of important procedures and policies for the functioning of the program. As administrative faculty, the position also provides opportunity for a teaching load of several courses per academic year and maintaining professional practice as part of professional development.

Qualifications:

A doctoral degree (PsyD or PhD) in Psychology.
Have several years of post-grad clinical experience and be a Registered Psychological Associate.
Proven record of effective and engaging teaching at the university level.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), Canvas, and can integrate new programs.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
· Experience in clinical supervision or mentoring.
· Experience teaching or practicing with diverse and underserved populations preferred.

Essential Functions:

Curriculum development: Work closely with the Associate Provost to lead the design and development of all academic and clinical components for a new Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program. This includes:

· Researching and benchmarking best practices from other accredited PsyD programs.
· Creating a comprehensive curriculum that integrates foundational psychological science with advanced, evidence-based clinical practice.
· Developing course outlines, learning objectives, and assessment strategies for all required coursework, practica, and dissertations.
· Writing and submitting proposals for institutional and programmatic accreditation.

Teaching: Teach several graduate-level courses per year within the MACP/PsyD programs.
Professional development: Maintain an active, personal clinical practice outside of university duties to ensure current, real-world expertise and to maintain appropriate professional certification.


Apply expertise from clinical work to enhance classroom instruction, case examples, and practical training for students.
Collaborate with faculty and administration to advance the mission of the department and the university.
Represent the department and institution at professional conferences and community events.
Operationalize the mission, vision, and learning outcomes for the PsyD program.
Assess and continually improve the curricular design and schedule for the program.
Oversee the recruitment, hiring, supervision and evaluation of staff and faculty personnel for the program.
Oversee the program's budget.
Work with other Simpson University departments to provide services to the program's students.
Promote the program locally, regionally, and nationally.
Collaborate with Marketing and Enrollment to design marketing and admissions strategies.
Participate in screening and approving students for admissions and class registration in accordance with BBS standards.
Ensure that appropriate and satisfactory library and curricular resources are available to students.
Oversee thorough and effective orientation for new students.
Oversee retention efforts of the program.
Oversee the assessment of the educational effectiveness of the program, including regular program review, course evaluations, faculty evaluations, exit interviews and graduate questionnaires.
Lead in the development, implementation, and oversight of the clinical training experience of students.
Work closely with program adjunct faculty and students to ensure training and learning goals are met.
