Summary of Responsibilities

Elbit America is seeking a highly experienced Staff Manufacturing Engineer to lead and drive excellence across our production operations. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in advanced electronics manufacturing, with a strong background in Surface Mount Technology (SMT), circuit card assembly, IPC 610-certified soldering, and high-volume production. Prior experience with defense manufacturing standards is essential.

This position plays a strategic role in scaling manufacturing capabilities, optimizing processes, and ensuring compliance with stringent industry requirements. Candidate will travel across the 8 different Elbit America locations (Fort Worth, TX; De Leon Springs, FL; Merrimack, NH; Talladega, AL; Charleston, SC; Boca Raton, FL; Choctaw, MS; & Roanoke, VA) to support manufacturing operations and provide expert oversight to ensure compliance to necessary standards. Relocation is not required, candidate will have the ability to work remotely with the teams once initiatives and projects have been established.

Responsibilities and Tasks (listed in bullet format):

  • Lead the development, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing engineering processes to support high-volume production (>500 units/day).
  • Act as the in-house SMT expert, ideally with hands-on experience with Fuji SMT pick and place machines, driving best practices in equipment utilization, setup, and process control.
  • Oversee and improve Work-In-Process (WIP) management systems to reduce cycle time, increase throughput, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on electronics assembly and circuit card manufacturing, including IPC-A-610 certified soldering practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all defense product manufacturing standards, documentation, traceability, and quality requirements (ITAR, AS9100, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Collaborate with quality, design, and production teams to support DFM (Design for Manufacturability), NPI (New Product Introduction), and root cause analysis.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing team of manufacturing and process engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other industry-standard methodologies.
  • Provide technical support and process integration for Wafer Fabrication (preferred).

Education, Experience & License or Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of technical experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in SMT processes; experience with Fuji SMT equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards and certified soldering practices.
  • Proven track record in high-volume electronics manufacturing (500+ units/day).
  • Experience with defense/aerospace product manufacturing and regulatory compliance is mandatory.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Wafer Fabrication processes a strong plus.
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Self starter, able to identify KPIs needed to drive process improvements and monitor progress among several projects across various locations
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if needed

Preferred Certifications:

  • IPC-A-610 Certified Specialist or Trainer
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • ITAR/EAR compliance training

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting skills of electrical, mechanical and chemical systems; solving unique problems
  • Demonstrated mastery of statistical analysis techniques and structured experimentation
  • Proven ability to diagnose sources of product variability and establish effective process controls
  • Solid capability to merge observation, data analysis and scientific theory to form conclusions and drive actions
  • Effective communication, presentation and documentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple high priorities; comfort with ambiguity; internally driven and excels under pressure
  • Ability to collaborate with all facets of the organization
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Experience writing complex MS Access or SQL queries
  • Thorough knowledge of electro-optical sensor design and development
  • Proactively implements business and professional improvements
  • Ability to support the organizational culture and build morale
