Specialty Cross Country Coach - Downtown Boise YMCA (Finance)
Specialty Cross Country Coaches will model and mentor character values, sportsmanship, teamwork, and general track and field skills. Ideal candidates will have the experience at a collegiate level so to provide individual and/or small group instruction in youth programming.
Responsibilities:
Provides a high level of expertise in the field that is being taught. Advanced techniques. Monitors participants for proper positioning and intensity levels and be able to explain or demonstrate the correct and safe way to perform all exercises by applying appropriate policies and procedures. Ensures the quality of the program, maintains proper ratios, equipment and program space. Ensures that all safety procedures for the sport is up to appropriate safety standards.Comes prepared and organized for each practice/game/meet. Able to work with varying ages and developmental levels. Make sure all equipment and materials are working correctly. Is seen as a positive influence among staff because of their work ethic and positive attitude.
Qualifications:
Experience at a collegiate level as an athlete in the sport or has collegiate, high school or Jr high coaching experience. Must be 18 years of age or older. Have an understanding of physical education principles, along with specific experience in strength training, technical training, and cardiovascular training affiliated with area coaching in, Possess the ability to work with varying developmental and maturity levels and ages. Have experience with a variety of teaching strategies. Knowledge of specific sport or program applied for.
Schedule:
This is a part time position averaging 6-15 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday/Wednesday practices 5:15pm - 6:30pm and Wednesday evenings for Meets; 5pm-8pm.
