Golf Shop Assistant (Personal Services)
Monitor the upkeep of the Golf Shop, making sure it is always kept neat and clean.
Administer point of sales transactions and maintain the day-to-day golf reservation systems by reserving tee times, checking in customers, and receiving payments.
Work closely with the Starter to monitor all aspects of play, including starting and monitoring pace of play.
Accurately reconcile the golf tee sheet at the end of each shift.
Keep a working knowledge of all upcoming tournaments and programs to provide accurate information to members.
Maintain records of daily play on the golf course and other data as directed.
Assist with maintaining the data management system within the point-of-sales software.
Maintain professional appearance and set example for all staff.
Perform other duties as assigned or required by the Golf Professional Staff.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must possess excellent people skills and be able to handle customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
Ability to engage the members and their guests when they walk into the Golf Shop.
Have prior knowledge of the game of golf and be passionate about the game.
Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively, as well as follow-up, in a busy, ever-changing environment.
Ability to work all shifts - schedule flexibility based on calendar of events.
Ability to work independently, as well as with others, in a group or team environment.
Able to follow all procedures and safety manuals.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 years' experience in sales or customer service
Strong verbal and written communication skills with groups, personal initiative, and leadership ability
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Knowledge of the basic rules of golf
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to bend, stoop, lift and/or carry items up to 25 lbs., or occasionally up to 50 lbs. with assistance
Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
Ability to work indoors or outdoors, in many weather conditions
Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers, with or without the use of two-way radios
Visually inspect all work areas, golf course, and grounds
