Deli Catering Sales Manager (Finance)
This position is typically 45-50 hours per week
Our hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday except Thanksgiving & Christmas Day
Weekend availability required
The position will report to the Catering Director
Performance Expectations- Essential Functions:
Manages the Catering sales staff
Includes scheduling, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, training
Leads using Servant Leadership (Zingerman's approach to leadership)
Holds sales staff accountable for completing daily, weekly and monthly tasks, and ensures all operational needs are completed
Manages the sales office
Ensures orders, production sheets, and last minute orders are correctly processed
Takes customer catering orders via phone and email, and processes web orders
Communicates with Sales staff and Catering Kitchen staff to ensure accuracy on all orders
Sales and finance responsibilities
Annual Budget recommendations for sales and labor
Leads the team using open book finance
Manages Accounts Receivable processes
Manages our software system Caterease
Reviews licenses, logins and security settings
Oversight of programming- an expert on the functionality and effectiveness
Updates database regularly to remove unnecessary information and updating new items.
Trains at least one other staff member on programming and maintenance of the data
Service expectations
Gives exceptional internal and external service
Maintains a professional image at all times through actions and appearance
Conducts all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Bottom Lines
Follows the 3 Steps to Giving Great Service & 5 Steps to Handling Customer Complaints with all customers (internal & external)
Resolves any customer complaints that are "passed up" from Staff
The Success Patterns for this position are:
Is timely and accurate in completing all assigned responsibilities and training requirements
Maintains and creates efficient and effective systems to ensure Guests receive both great food and great service
Develops a successful working partnership and ensures effective communication between the Catering Production and Events departments, the Deli Management Team and other Zingerman's businesses
Supports Catering Production, Delivery and Event Managers & Staff as needed
Leads with a continuous improvement approach and utilizes a systems approach to maximize efficiency
Experience and Skills needed for this job are:
A minimum of 3 years experience working in the food service industry (preferably with experience in the catering and event business)
2 or more years prior management experience
Experience in the sales industry, and a passion for increasing sales
Efficient in word processing, spreadsheet programs, and email management
Ability to type at least 60-80 words per minute
Experience with catering point of sale programs (preferably Caterease) or other food service software a plus
Experience developing and revising operational systems
Physical requirements for this position are:
Able to ascend/descend between multiple levels of the Deli building.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
