Benefits Specialist (Finance)



Position Summary

The Benefits Specialist will manage all aspects of team member benefits for 600 team members, including benefits enrollment, claim dispute resolution, vendor reporting, and annual open enrollment. This role requires a deep understanding of medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance, as well as experience with ADA compliance, reasonable accommodation processing, Workers Compensation, and FMLA administration. The Benefits Specialist will work closely with brokers and external partners to ensure smooth administration of benefits programs and will be the primary point of contact for team members' benefits inquiries. This individual will also play a critical role in educating team members during new hire orientation and open enrollment periods.

Salary:

Annual Salary rate begins at $62,339.00. Mid range at $77,923.00. Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.

Essential Duties:

  • Benefits Administration & Enrollment: Oversee benefits enrollments, status changes, and eligibility information. Serve as the primary point of contact for team members regarding all benefits-related questions.
  • Open Enrollment: Lead the open enrollment process, ensuring timely updates to benefits plans and ensuring all benefits materials are clear and accessible to team members.
  • ADA & Leave Management: Act as the subject matter expert for ADA compliance and the reasonable accommodation process. Work closely with HR Business Partners to ensure effective handling of FMLA, disability, and other leave-related requests.
  • Claims & Dispute Resolution: Guide team members with benefits providers to submit claims and disputes.
  • Benefits Communication: Create and facilitate benefit presentations for new hire orientation and annual enrollment. Ensure that all benefits materials are accurate and up to date.
  • Collaboration with External Partners: Partner with insurance brokers and vendors to manage benefits plans, review contract terms, and explore new benefits options that align with organizational needs.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA) and organizational policies. Generate reports for billing and allocation charges related to benefits plans.
  • Data Accuracy: Conduct quality checks of benefits-related data to maintain accuracy and prevent errors in benefits administration.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance service delivery for team members.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of team members' benefits data and records.
  • Manages OSHA reporting submissions and ensures timely and accurate compliance.
  • Oversees Workers' Compensation claims, serving as the primary point of contact for internal coordination and external reporting.
  • Responds to team member inquiries related to 401(k) enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts; participates in Investment Advisory Committee meetings as a Human Resources representative.
  • Collaborates on the development and delivery of 401(k) education and resources for team members.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required. 4 years of experience managing team member benefits programs, including administration of medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance.
  • In lieu of an Associate's degree, a high school diploma will be accepted with 6 years of experience in managing team member benefits programs, including administration of medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance.
  • Strong understanding of FMLA and ADA compliance and reasonable accommodation processing.
  • Experience in leading benefits education programs and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
Nice to have, but not required:
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
