US Public Finance - Credit Analyst, Senior Analyst - Local Governments - New York
Fitch Ratings is seeking a senior analyst with 3-5 years of public finance related experience. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to focus on the analysis and rating of tax supported bonds and issuers in the United States.
Primary Responsibilities include:
• Provide high quality, accurate independent, objective and forward-looking rating analysis and research on new and existing local governments across the U.S.
• Ability to gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for the purpose of producing ratings, publishing credit reports, and contributing to special research reports as assigned.
• Evaluate credit structures, identify relevant municipal credit trends and highlight these trends through industry updates and market-focused reports.
• High ethical standards and adherence to all Fitch policies, procedures, criteria, the Code of Ethics and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop an understanding of Fitch's analytical rating criteria and credit rating process.
• Maintain surveillance of assigned portfolio of credits.
Desired Qualifications:
• Proven credit and analytical skills gained in banking credit department, rating agency, buy-side credit department,
• Bachelor's or master's degree in public administration, political science, economics, finance of business preferred
• Strong understanding of US local governments, quantitative methods and general finance concepts.
• Solid writing and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Ability to comprehend bond documents and ask probing questions to issuers and their advisers.
• Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with government issuers, financial advisers, and other rating process intermediaries.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and handle multiple tasks.
• Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities.
• Proven commitment to teamwork and ability to engage and collaborate in a diverse workplace.

FOR NEW YORK AND CALIFORNIA ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $100,000. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch's total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
