Production Unit Leader - Aftermarket (AM) Hamilton, Ohio USA (Finance)
Is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and new product launches for the Aftermarket (AM) Operations. Leads the development, design and validation of existing & start up manufacturing & assembly operations that meet objectives for product quality, cost & performance in the AM Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing and manufacturing engineering and time-to-market activities while meeting all quality objectives and cost targets. Coordinates and confers with all other staff members to establish and execute short and long-term goals as defined in the AM business plan and achieves a high level of customer satisfaction to assure our long-term position in our market place.
Responsible for ensuring the unit reaches target metric goals through use of KPI's, Management Review and operational excellence using tools like Lean and Six Sigma methodology.
Manages, oversees, prioritizes and assigns specific manufacturing engineering tasks for the manufacturing engineering team as required.
Establishes, plans and sets goals for the manufacturing engineering department and its team members to assure continuous improvement of our processes, overall equipment efficiency and quality.
Analyzes and reports all costs related to capital investments, repairs, modifications, improvements and other related expenses for the department.
Establishes, outlines and implements various levels of training program for skill training within the department.
Assists in the training and education program of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Has authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes become noncompliant.
Supervises personnel have been delegated the responsibility and authority to add additional inspection steps necessary to ensure product quality when processes become noncompliant.
Hires, trains and develops staff. Provides direction to and development of employees through daily coaching, the administration of performance management and the creation and implementation of development plans.
Is responsible for the readiness of all new product launches.
Interfaces with Quality, Purchasing, Logistics, Maintenance, Product Engineering personnel to assure timely production support.
Performs engineering studies & analyses on existing manufacturing processes to improve process reliability, problem solve, or to improve product quality & cost.
Proactively identifies opportunities for productivity gains and implements improvements in manufacturing processes.
Develops a project management approach to solve manufacturing deficiencies such as setting up time reduction efforts and first pass yield rate increases.
Plan and implement workplace layouts and work instructions to optimize process flow and efficiency.
Consults with tool manufacturers to determine appropriate equipment and specifications for replacement tools and tool optimizations.
Using appropriate statistical techniques develops validation protocols, complete process capability studies & process validation. Assumes and provides a data driven problem solving approach which includes a root cause analysis approach.Creates and fosters an engaged work environment that is built on trust, mutual respect, open/transparent communication, empowerment, and engagement.
Extended hours are required as well as working off-shifts as AM is a 24/7 operation.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
