Tax Accountant (Finance)



Position Title: Tax Accountant - Property Tax (P1-P2)*

*Level will be determined commensurate with experience

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position focuses on administration of property tax and local business licenses.  This includes analyzing and processing property tax bills, business license renewals, property tax compliance, business activity reporting, and administration of compliance with landlord and tenant contractual provisions related to property tax rights and obligations.  Position will work closely with the Manager – Property Tax to ensure Crown's property tax compliance. This position is part of the tax department and may involve other areas of tax such as Transaction and Income Tax.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, reviewing and analyzing property tax and business license filings.
  • Assist with financial accounting requirements related to property tax and business licenses.
  • Assist with computation of accruals, forecasts and budgets related to property tax.
  • Provide support with Property Tax in its day-to-day operations in accordance with established controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of property tax bills, landlord reimbursement requests, and tenant pass-through billing.
  • Assist with informational requests, appeals and audits.
  • Research and interpret various legal documents such as leases, deeds, and easements to determine Crown's property tax obligations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to research and resolve property tax and business license matters.
  • Manage ambiguity by sharing anomalies and inconsistencies with leadership and assist with resolution.
  • Adhere to finance and accounting control policies and procedures in compliance with the Company's policies, US GAAP and SOX controls.

 

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements          

  • Preferred experience (1+ years) in tax/accounting roles, with emphasis on property tax.
  • Recent graduate with a degree in accounting; relevant coursework or projects encouraged. No prior work experience required—internships, volunteer work, or academic projects are a plus.
  • Prior experience with telecommunications, construction, or real estate preferred not required.

Compensation

The pay range offered for this position is $26.83 - $36.88 per hour. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives.
