Here's the scoop - Summary
The Category Analyst, is a critical company role supporting the Category Management Team to capture and organize relevant data into actionable insights using a variety of data sources, distilling them into impactful reporting, and leveraging powerful data visualization tools.
They will help develop story-driven insights and in-depth analyses to influence strategic business decisions internally as well as externally with our valued customers. On occasion, the role comes with direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic customers to help present and support the implementation of growth plans.
What a typical day looks like
- Work across multiple data sources (POS & Household Panel data)
- Create dashboards and key reports (Power BI/SQL/Excel)
- Distill primary and secondary research down to easy-to-digest insights
- Prepare monthly reports and/or manage special projects, as directed or assigned
- Develop, enhance and optimize business analytics to deliver critical insights and fuel growth agendas
- Engage in internal analyses, research, product analyses, pricing and assortment strategies
- Collaborate with category management colleagues to enhance analytic processes and insights
- Develop and maintain successful professional working relationships with relevant internal corporate departments and external distributor/customer partners, including supporting / attending joint business planning meetings
- Train cross functional teammates on initiatives
- Proactively anticipate business and insights needs
- Maintain competitive knowledge to help inform sales strategies
- Perform other tasks as required or assigned
What you'll bring
- Post-secondary education in Business or related field (Bachelor's degree or equivalent)
- Minimum three years related insights and/or analytics experience, preferably within a consumer-packaged goods environment
- Data/Insights mining expert with syndicated tools (POS essential; household panel a plus)
- Experienced in creating and building tools and analysis processes (Power BI or other data visualization experience)
- Customer service orientation with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse stakeholder groups both internal and external
- Strong analytical skills and proven experience translating data into actionable insights
- Strong project management skills and the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute according to timelines
- Strong communication / presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex scenarios to various audiences
- Hunger for continuous learning and self improvement

- Some extended hours of work may be required

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position mayalso include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offeredand the employee's work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
