Assistant Mobile Maintenance Manager (Finance)



Overview

Location: Calera, AL

Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process

The Assistant Mobile Maintenance Manager's primary responsibility is to complete planning, scheduling, coordination and supervision of Mobile Mechanics and Mobile Lubrication Technicians activities to ensure that all Quarry and Plant mobile equipment is maintained in good order. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is also responsible to ensure that all work is completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements keeping budgetary considerations in mind. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for supervision, safety and training of 6 Mobile equipment mechanics, 3 Mobile equipment lubrication technicians and a Mobile equipment Inspector/Planner. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator will design and implement required skills enhancement training for each subordinate through both internal and external training programs. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator will actively promote safety through holding and documenting daily/weekly safety meetings. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is responsible to ensure that all mobile maintenance activities are carried out in the most effective, efficient and timely manner possible. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator must be able to use and understand the computerized maintenance management system (SAP) and have knowledge of the work order tracking system, spare parts catalog, requisitioning and inventory systems. The Mobile Maintenance Coordinator is required to be knowledgeable in the Quarry mining process, Quarry mining mobile equipment, and Quarry mine crushing and hoisting systems. (Plant Equipment including cranes, boomtruck, forklifts etc.)

This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for a setting and tracking $3M or greater Mobile Equipment Budget each year. Produce and Maintain tracking sheets to document costs of all types and work within the Mobile Maintenance budget and assist Maintenance Manager in forecasting actual spending.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Mobile Equipment Inspector/Planner
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Manager, Plant Controller, Quarry Operations Manager, Production Coordinators, and Quarry Supervisors.
  • Responsible for all Plant and Quarry mobile equipment maintenance including preventative, predictive, corrective and routine maintenance.
  • Supervise the daily activities of six hourly Mobile Mechanics, three hourly Mobile equipment lubrication technicians and a Salaried Mobile Equipment Inspector/Planner
  • Drive workforce performance
    • Ensure PM or job is done safely and are completed efficiently
    • Ensure employees are prepared for assigned PM or jobs ahead of time (day before)
  • Enforce all plant specific and federally mandated health and safety policies
  • Documentation
    • Scheduling of all work involving direct report mobile mechanics, employees and contractors.
    • Maintain an accurate Work Order History, reliability tracking.
    • Maintain the Mobile Equipment PM system in SAP.
    • Manage work performance and attendance issues with direct reports.
  • Work with Quarry Operations Manager and Quarry Supervisors to instruct Operator I and Operator II employees in proper performance of routine operator maintenance and daily mobile equipment inspections and scheduling Mobile Equipment maintenance.
  • Work closely with other Maintenance Department and plant staff in planning and scheduling Mobile Equipment maintenance.
  • Attend planning, scheduling, cost and coordination meetings as required.
  • Assist in Mobile Equipment spare parts inventory control.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Manager and other Maintenance Staff to optimize reliability and maintenance through technical solutions by supporting studies and implementing projects.
  • Spend at least 50 % of time in the field, coaching the workforce.
  • Support the planning, coordination and execution of Quarry equipment down day activities and shutdowns as required.
  • Assist Quarry Supervisors by providing basic troubleshooting of fixed equipment problems.
  • Record and communicate Contractor Safety Orientation Program
  • Ensure that all work is accomplished in a safe manner and in compliance with all environmental requirements
  • Ensure that outside contractors performing work on site, have provided required insurance certification and have met MSHA requirements before work begins.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree Preferred or equivalent experience & education.
  • 3-5 years of related experience. Hands on experience with mechanical equipment installation, repair and maintenance, and troubleshoot.
  • Hands on experience with mobile mining equipment.
  • Background with personal computers.
  • Strong mechanical background with experience as a skilled tradesperson is extremely helpful and necessary in most instances.
