POSITION SUMMARY

The College Bursar is responsible for overseeing the tuition portion of the accounts receivable of the college, including student billing, tuition receivables, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in courteous and professional cash collections, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the financial health of the institution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage student billing and accounts receivable processes.
  • Oversee the collection of tuition and fees, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and policies.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Handle student inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Supervise and train bursar office staff.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems and software.

 

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (college degree preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
  • One to two years of Bursar experience preferred.
  • Collections experience preferred.
