Position: Mechanical Maintenance Technician I

Reports to: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: 7:30am-3:30pm

Pay: $22+/hr

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Align sheaves and V-Belts, using precision equipment.
  • Adjust and inspect gaskets on pumps.
  • Assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Inspect and repair clinker cooler parts.
  • Inspect and repair Kiln parts including, but not limited to: nose rings, tires, rollers, thrust systems and girth gears.
  • Inspect and repair liners, center screens and diaphragms in the Finish Mill.
  • Inspect and repair bearings and rotors on separators, as well as parts on air conveyor systems.
  • Inspect and replace airslides, compressor couplings, screw conveyors and conveyor parts.
  • Inspect and replace bags and cages in dust collectors.
  • Inspect and repair blower V-belts and filters, air cannons and parts.
  • Inspect, align and replace parts of belt and chain conveyors.
  • Inspect and replace fan and rotor bearing alignment.
  • Inspect and repair tables, bearings and tires in Raw Mill.
  • Inspect and repair Pneumatic equipment using blue prints.
  • Inspect and repair hydraulic systems using blue prints.
  • Inspect, repair and replace bearing, bull ring and seals in Coal Mill journals.
  • Perform precision alignment using dial indicators and lasers.
  • Perform routine management and documentation.
  • Perform rigging of heavy loads.
  • Perform 5S cleaning and lubrication.
  • Must perform welding skills.
  • Must be able to operate a cutting torch and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Must participate in 5S Housekeeping Program within the plant.
  • Must be able to fabricate from prints and sketches in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  • Must understand and perform root cause analysis.
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment.
  • Must perform machinist duties.
  • Must keep Maintenance areas clean.
  • Must maintain and repair Gators and trucks.
  • Must assist the Process Attendant the Pre-Heater Tower.
  • Must answer all corrective calls from Production.
  • Must follow SPCC - spill control procedures.
  • Must be able to provide instruction, direction and support to outside contractors for special projects or plant outages.
  • Additional duties if Shift Mechanic: routine management, rigging basic and advanced, VCPS basic knowledge, precision measures fundamental and advanced, must have knowledge of Intelex program, and must have knowledge of Maximo program
  • Assist with other departmental needs as required

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Graduate of certified Millwright or Industrial is preferred
  • Maintenance Apprentice Program is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of mechanical maintenance is preferred

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Analyzing numerical data.

  • Contacting Supervisor and/or Manager for authorization.
  • Making a verbal report to Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • Briefing individuals on tasks or situations.

  • Proficient on Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shift, overtime and accept call-ins after hours.
  • Must be available to be contacted electronically during non-working hours.
  • To assist in the training of new employees in the skills and procedures required to perform a task.

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
