Graduate Coordinator of Disability Services (Legal)



Job Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Office of Disability Services will assist with the daily operations of the Office of Disability Services, policy development, and program assessment; assist with the planning and implementation of Office of Disability Services sponsored events; and will support the office with other areas of interest. The GA will also learn to use Symplicity's Accommodate management system for record-keeping purposes. This position will be in an in-person position on our campus in Hoboken, NJ.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct pre-admission contacts with students, parents, and high school personnel inquiring about support services for students with disabilities.
• Meet with current students to discuss accommodations, services, and campus resources.
• Assist with representing the office at Admissions events and other classroom and campus presentations.
• Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at increasing disability awareness and supporting specific interest groups on campus.
• Assist with the coordination of support services for students with disabilities, i.e. readers and note-takers.
• Assist with the Disability Services orientation sessions for various student and faculty groups.
• Assist in the maintenance of the office's website.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Enrolled as a graduate student in an accredited institution, preferably concentrating on higher education or student personnel administration.
• Willingness to learn new skills and an interest in the field of student affairs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Preference given to candidates with prior student affairs and/or student leadership experience.

Meetings & Work Schedule
 

The GA is expected to meet regularly with the Director of Disability Services and Coordinator of Disability Services to discuss assigned projects and address individual and departmental needs. The GA is expected to attend unit and departmental staff meetings and any other meetings as assigned. The GA will work closely with other professional staff members in Student Affairs and assist with ongoing events and projects. The GA is expected to work twenty office hours per week. This is a ten-month position, with a start date of July 28, 2025 and an end date of May 29, 2026. Summer employment can be negotiated on an hourly basis.

Compensation Range

In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75. This range represents the University's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
