Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving installing and maintaining intrusion detection systems, camera systems, access control systems, and maintaining emergency communications equipment. This includes determining systems requirements, planning and coordinating installation of equipment, performing maintenance on existing systems as needed, and supervision of contractors, or vendors when assisting on various projects.
Level III requirements at this level consist of six years of skilled-level experience in electronics repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education/training in the electronics field for each year of the required experience.
Level II: requirements at this level consist of three years of skilled-level experience in electronics repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education/training in the electronics field for each year of the required experience
required at this level include knowledge of electronics theory as applied to telecommunications, intrusion detection and alarm systems; of methods, tools, materials, meters and test equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronics and telecommunications equipment; of hazards and safety practices associated with working with electricity; of managerial principles and practices; and of federal, state and local laws and ordinances governing the parameter requirements of intrusion detection and fire notification equipment. Ability is required to plan installations; to prepare, modify and read blueprints and drawings; to maintain and repair electronics and communications equipment; to maintain effective intrusion detection and alarm systems through sound management practices; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
