Field Service Technician I (Maintenance)
OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)
The Field Service Technician is available for 24/7 on call field service labor, trouble shooting and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high speed separators or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance and efficiency.
This includes performing preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs. Must be able to manage travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):
Provides mechanical maintenance on Alfa Laval Separators, Decanters, or Heat exchangers
Can startup and shut down equipment in accordance to company and customer safety procedure in line with OSHA requirements.
Prepares expense reports and written service reports for work performed on each job no later than two weeks of job completion
Create job time and expense reports, Concur expense reports, and payroll reports as required by all field service technicians.
Obtains Signed Time Summary sheets from the customer upon completion of job.

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
Minimum Associates Degree (AS) or two years Military or suitable job experience
Type and Length of Experience:
Zero to two years' experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
Competent mechanical skills and aptitude
Basic electrical skills
Ability to communicate Operational and Safety parameters for Alfa Laval equipment to the customer
Customer service and sales orientation oriented
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong verbal & written skills
Ability to troubleshoot & solve technical problems
Team Player and ability to work independently
Basic PC utilization skills required in word, excel.
Ability to learn and use systems required for the administration of service and expense reports
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):
Ability to lift 85 pounds and perform tasks requiring physical strength (climbing, standing, equipment/tool use).
Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):
Perform jobs in line with OHSA requirements
Complete established safety training programs
Exposure to heat, cold, noise, various type of facility, and levels of cleanliness
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, motor vehicle use, etc.)
Requires the ability to drive a company vehicle, and have a valid driver's license
Must be able to wear a safety respirator, as needed. (Clean shaven, if necessary when job requires it)
Travel 75-85%
