LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION: The YMCA will assist those who are not certified with obtaining their Red Cross Certification.
JOB LOCATION: Wellmark YMCA in downtown Des Moines, IA
SCHEDULE: 5:00am-1:30pm Monday-Friday
SALARY:$17.00 - $19.00 / hour

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervising the activities of the members/guests in the aquatic department and to ensure their safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Enforce rules and procedures.Keep the pool and pool deck free of obstructions and safety hazards.Maintain constant surveillance of the water and pool deck areas.Handle equipment as assigned to ensure safety.Record chemical readings.Know emergency procedures and is able to demonstrate them.Maintain emergency equipment.Respond to all emergencies.Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
