Summary

The position is responsible for leading sales and quality control team of the IM line of business. This technical sales person's responsibility includes interaction with all customers in regards to, satisfaction, customer service, technical expertise, pricing, billing issues, market intel, quality concerns, and innovation. Three direct reports and six dotted line reports (Millard) in QC which runs shift work 24/7. Industrial Minerals line of business produces and loads out 24/7 as do all of the contracted customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own personal safety always as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow CRH's 14 Fundamentals for Fatality Elimination.
  • Assist in the preparation of the company's marketing plan and is responsible for implementing and supervising its development in the marketplace. This includes both a short-term business plan and a long-term strategic business plan for the various areas of responsibility.
  • Meet with assigned customers and quote, build relationships, create value, and be a liaison between the customer and our operations.
  • Develop, enhance, and innovate industry and product knowledge as well as quality within line of business.
  • Continuously support and mentor QC team members through one to one meetings and other activities on a regular basis to discuss strategies, issues, and resolve problems. This is a 24-7 operation with three shifts.
  • Foster an environment for employees that are centered on the team and the role each employee plays on the team in meeting their job expectations.
  • Create an individual development plan for each direct report. The plan should highlight expectations of their position, areas of concentration, and should be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
  • Define our customers' needs and create specific measures within each department that relates directly to a satisfied customer.
  • Perform market segmentation activities so that each department is aware of our core customers and how to meet and exceed specific customer expectations
  • Participate in regular department-wide meetings to discuss issues and resolve problems. Provides support to all LOB sales efforts following up assuring edits, quotes are completed while working toward the common goal of servicing the customer's needs.
  • Visit all operating plants and personnel on a monthly basis. Work to ensure that everyone in the field understands our direction and strategy. Help to create "buy-in" from all stakeholders so that all work towards the same common goal.
  • Have regular conversations with the company VP of Commercial Sales updating sales activities and any other Customer Support Issues.
  • Know and understand the financial data for line of business. Produce information on a regular basis as requested by your manager and other members of the executive leadership team.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all software (Salesforce, Quote to Cash, Viewpoint, Apex, etc.) used by the various areas of responsibility and be able to produce measureable data using the reports generated by the software systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years related experience in customer service and sales preferred.
